Tropical Cyclones: Current  Characteristics and Potential Changes Under a Warmer Climate
What's New?

Project SMG-HD-005

The project SMG-HD-005, led by Drs. Robert Varady and Christopher Scott at the Udall Center of the University of Arizona has overlapping interests with our project, while exploring the flow of information trough different government levels during periods of cylone threat to the population. The precipitation associated with landfalling cyclones can be a blessing to communities in which water is scarce, but it can also present a major threat to the population when it leads to flooding and landslides. L. Farfan for our team has interacted closely with their team members.

Dr. Scott and a PhD student under Dr. Nicolás Pineda at El Colegio de Sonora, will participate in our symposium on the Human Dimensions of Tropical Cyclones, that will take place on 13 March 2009 in Acapulco.
